Italy’s public debt exceeds USD 3 trn

Italy’s public debt rose more than USD 3.1 trillion, of which Italian household has a quarter, the central bank of Italy (Bancaditalia) said Wednesday.

The value of the state’s public debt hit approximately 28.43 billion euros (USD 31.34 billion) last June, an increase of 27.8 billion euros (USD 30.7 billion) compared with last May, the bank added in a memo.

The rise in debt shows the increased liquidity in treasury in June, it said, adding that this increase included the overall impact of interest and margins on issuing, restoring and returning the securities related to inflation and exchange rate standing at USD 1.43 as a whole.

The value of the Italian household debt stood at 26.5 percent and non-financial companies at 10.9 percent, it stated.

Meanwhile, tax revenues assessed in the state’s budget in June reached 38.2 billion euros (USD 42.1 billion), a rise of 6.1 percent compared with the same month of last year, it revealed
