5.6-Magnitude Quake Hits Turkyie’s Tokat Province

A moderately strong earthquake measuring 5.6 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Tokat province in northern Turkey. According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency, the quake hit in the town of Sulusaray, in Tokat province, some 450 kilometers east of the capital, Ankara. The quake caused damage to some buildings, but there were no immediate reports of any deaths or serious injuries. An aftershock measuring 3.5 magnitude was recorded. A devastating magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck parts of southern Turkey and neighboring Syria last year, killing more than 59,000 people. Source: Qatar News Agency
