56th Session of Arab Human Rights Committee Focuses on Israeli Violations in Occupied Territories

Cairo: The 56th session of the Arab Permanent Committee on Human Rights began today at the League of Arab States' General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo. Representatives from human rights departments across Arab nations gathered for the two-day meeting.

According to Emirates News Agency, the committee will review the General Secretariat's report detailing actions taken to implement resolutions from the previous session. Key topics include Israeli violations in occupied Arab territories, the treatment of Palestinian people, the conditions of Arab prisoners in Israeli detention centers, and the issue of Palestinian and Arab martyrs' bodies held by Israeli authorities.

Ahmed Maghari, head of the Human Rights Department at the Arab League, highlighted in his opening remarks that the situation in Gaza tests the Arab and international community's dedication to human rights. He emphasized the ongoing challenges faced by the Palestinian population, including daily bombardments and killings, amidst international inaction and silence from justice institutions. Maghari criticized the occupying authorities for defying international legitimacy, ignoring resolutions from the UN General Assembly, the Security Council, and the International Court of Justice.
