8th AFC Medical Conference to Spotlight Sports Medicine and AI

Kuala lumpur: More than 700 medical professionals will convene in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as the AFC Medical Conference returns to the home of Asian football on Wednesday. Taking place from July 21 to 25, the Conference, themed 'Medicine and Science - Navigating Through Changing Times,' will provide a platform for leading global experts to share and exchange medical sports and science advancements.

According to Emirates News Agency, the event will offer an in-depth exploration of emerging trends such as artificial intelligence, genomics, and women's football. The first two days will feature pre-conference workshops and seminars as a precursor to the main event, focusing on topics like football emergency medicine, sports physiotherapy, anti-doping procedures, and hands-on musculoskeletal ultrasound.

This marks the 8th edition of the AFC Medical Conference since its inception in 1995. The conference celebrates three decades of progress in football medicine on the Continent. AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa emphasized the importance of education in achieving the confederation's ambitions. He stated that the conference embodies the AFC's commitment to providing cutting-edge knowledge and practices to professionals at the forefront of sports medicine.

In addition to discussions, the event will host the prestigious AFC Medical Awards, recognizing medical professionals for their significant contributions to football medicine in Asia. The conference will focus on sports medicine and artificial intelligence, evidence-based injury prevention, and women and youth footballers. Top medical professionals will be celebrated at the 4th AFC Medical Awards on July 24 for their outstanding impact on the game's development.
