Kuwait city: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired the sixth session of the UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting included participation from several ministers and senior officials from both nations, including Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrui, Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, and Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri among others. The session was part of Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed’s visit to Kuwait, coinciding with the UAE’s celebrations of its longstanding relations with Kuwait under the theme “UAE and Kuwait: Brothers Forever.”
In his speech, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed highlighted the strong historical ties and cooperation between the UAE and Kuwait, which have been fostered by past and present leadership. He noted the ongoing growth in economic and trade relations between the two countries, with total trade reaching an all-time high of US$13.5 billion in 2024. The UAE stands as Kuwait’s leading trade partner in the Gulf and Arab region, and its second-largest partner globally. Additionally, the UAE is a major destination for Kuwait’s non-oil exports.
In the health sector, sustained cooperation since 2021 has led to 153 organ transplants for Kuwaiti recipients, showcasing advanced coordination and operational readiness between the nations. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed optimism for future collaboration in sectors like industry, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence.
The session concluded with the signing of the Minutes of the Sixth Session of the UAE-Kuwait Joint Higher Committee. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Abdullah Ali Al Yahya also signed five Memoranda of Understanding and executive programmes, targeting areas such as consumer protection, tourism, standardisation, integrity promotion, and public sector oversight.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed expressed gratitude for the hospitality and cooperation received during the visit, extending wishes for continued prosperity and progress for Kuwait.
