Abu dhabi: H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, recently held a meeting with Yair Lapid, the Opposition Leader of Israel, in Abu Dhabi. The discussions focused on the strengthening bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Israel.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting also covered significant regional developments, with an emphasis on the ongoing situation in the Middle East. A major point of discussion was the international efforts aimed at securing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
During the talks, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed reiterated the UAE's commitment to supporting international initiatives that aim to achieve an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He highlighted the necessity for the release of all hostages and measures to prevent further conflict escalation in the region.
Sheikh Abdullah also stressed the importance of increasing efforts to tackle the growing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. He called for the establishment of mechanisms that would ensure the safe, sustainable, and unhindered delivery of aid to civilians.
Additionally, the UAE's top diplomat emphasized the need to work towards creating a credible political framework to resume peace negotiations based on the two-state solution. He noted that such efforts are vital for reinforcing regional security and stability, as well as for ending the cycle of extremism, tension, and escalating violence.
