Abu Dhabi, Al Dhafra Celebrate Arabian Horses, Heritage with Two Stellar Ramadan Championships

Abu dhabi: The third edition of the Abu Dhabi Ramadan Arabian Horse Championship concluded at the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club, marking the end of three days filled with intense competition and engagement. Organised by the Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS), the event underscored the UAE leadership's enduring commitment to purebred Arabian horses.

According to Emirates News Agency, the final ceremony was graced by the presence of Sheikh Zayed bin Hamad Al Nahyan, Vice Chairman of the Society; Mohammed Abdullah Al Junaibi, Chairman of Federal Protocol and Strategic Narrative Authority and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club; and Mohammed Ahmed Al Harbi, Director-General of the EAHS. The championship featured 19 categories with 416 horses owned by about 246 participants vying for a total prize pool of AED665,000.

In the Yearling Fillies Championship, AD Hayatt secured the gold medal for owner Faisal Al Shehhi, followed by Balkis Al Noor from Al Noor Stud with a silver, and MZ Ahwal, owned by Khalifa Al Nuaimi, taking bronze. Similarly, Shehab Al Zobair, owned by Abdulrahman Al Shamsi, clinched the gold in the Yearling Colts Championship, with JS Romeo and Anas Al Bahiya taking silver and bronze, respectively.

The Junior Fillies Championship saw Sheikha Al Yah, owned by Mohammed Ahmed Abdul Latif Al Ali, winning gold, narrowly surpassing RK Naderah of Al Juwaher Stud, who settled for silver. Fetnat WD., owned by Khalid Abdullah Al Shehhi, completed the podium with bronze.

In the Filly Foals category, Class A was won by O.M Mazn for owner Omar Mohammed Al Shemaili, while Bint Muhja from Al Noor Arabian Stud and Shaikhat Al Khaleej from Al Khaleej Stud took silver and bronze. In Class B, MZ Mayasa won gold for owner Suhail Abdullah Al Nuaimi, with Raboobath Al Hamidiya and Anood Al Ghanadir securing silver and bronze.

The Foal Colts competitions saw Rakan Al Sadeem take gold in Class A for owner Mohamed Abdul Jabbar Al Ali. S Alrafeeq and MQ Mashhoor followed with silver and bronze. In Class B, Fattan Al Sadeem of Al Sadeem Arabian Stud won gold, while Hashem K and Sihamad Alahmed claimed silver and bronze.

Earlier, the EAHS hosted the second edition of the Ramadan Arabian Horse Championship in Al Dhafra at the Al Dhafra Sports and Cultural Club. This event featured 90 horses from 36 owners competing across eight categories for a prize of AED255,000. In the Filly Foal category, gold went to A.S Hur, owned by Ahmed Saeed Suhail Al Mansouri, with Shamook Liwa and M A Hagauy taking silver and bronze. In the Colts Category, IM Barag, owned by Zayed Saeed Al Mazrouei, won gold, followed by Buraq A.H with silver and Abab Liwa with bronze.

In the Yearling Fillies category, Mozn A.H took gold for owner Ahmed Saeed Al Hameli, with M Mznah and Maha Liwa taking silver and bronze. These championships, now in their third edition in Abu Dhabi and second in Al Dhafra, highlight the UAE's leading role in preserving and promoting the heritage of purebred Arabian horses at equestrian events.
