Abu dhabi: Abu Dhabi Customs and Maersk Global Trade and Customs Consulting have signed a strategic cooperation agreement to enhance border management, boost supply chain resilience, and improve the efficiency of Abu Dhabi's trade and logistics ecosystem.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was signed by Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Customs, and Dr. Lars Karlsson, Global Head of Trade and Customs Consulting at Maersk. The signing took place on the sidelines of the Abu Dhabi-London Business Connect Forum in London, with Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), witnessing the event.
The collaboration aims to deliver next-generation customs modernization solutions. These include enhanced coordinated border management, the development of a 'Trusted Digital Trade Corridor', and the establishment of a comprehensive customs compliance framework for customs brokers. This initiative is aligned with Abu Dhabi Customs' vision to support its 'Invisible Customs' ecosystem using Maersk's expertise in trade and border innovation.
Al Mansoori emphasized the importance of the agreement, stating that it reflects Abu Dhabi Customs' commitment to innovation and strategic partnerships to improve customs administration. Dr. Karlsson expressed Maersk's honor in collaborating with Abu Dhabi Customs, highlighting the goal of designing solutions that enhance operational performance and build sustainable supply chains.
This partnership represents a significant step in Abu Dhabi's evolution towards a next-generation customs ecosystem, reinforcing the emirate's status as a leader in global trade and logistics through innovation and data-driven operations.
