Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), in collaboration with Metal Park Investment ME Ltd, has announced plans to set up a dedicated Industry 4.0 Competence Centre in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, this advanced technological hub aims to accelerate the digitalisation of the metal manufacturing sector, aligning with the emirate's goal to become a global leader in next-generation industrial innovation.
The Centre is a testament to a shared commitment to equip manufacturers with Industry 4.0 technologies, enabling businesses to flourish in a digital and data-driven industrial environment. The facility, covering over five million square feet, is situated within Metal Park's purpose-built industrial zone in KEZAD, approximately 8 kilometres from Khalifa Port.
Tailored specifically to the metal manufacturing value chain, the centre offers specialised infrastructure and digital environments that facilitate rapid prototyping, pilot testing, and scaling of Industry 4.0 applications. It will serve as a gateway to Abu Dhabi's dynamic industrial ecosystem, providing a solid platform for the development, testing, and scaling of technologies such as robotics, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), predictive maintenance, digital twins, AI-enhanced production optimisation, and autonomous logistics.
In addition to technological advancements, the Centre will act as a hub for capacity building, equipping the workforce with essential skills for operating in a digitally-enabled industrial future. This initiative is aligned with the Abu Dhabi Industrial Strategy (ADIS), and the Centre is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving the strategy's goal of doubling the manufacturing sector's GDP contribution to AED 172 billion by 2031.
Mohammad Al Kamali, Chief Industry and Trade Officer at ADIO, highlighted that 'Abu Dhabi is entering a new era of economic transformation where innovation, sustainability, and advanced technology define our industrial future.' Saleh Shahrestani, Chairman of Metal Park, added that the Competence Centre will be a cornerstone of technological progress in the regional metal industry.
Scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2025, the Centre will bolster Abu Dhabi's transformation into a globally integrated, export-driven economy, providing investors with direct access to strategic partnerships, world-class infrastructure, and a progressive regulatory environment.
