Abu dhabi: SEHA, a subsidiary of PureHealth, the largest healthcare group in the Middle East, has announced the official inauguration of the Sakina Centre of Advanced Care. This initiative is in collaboration with Johnson and Johnson and is located at the Behavioural Science Pavilion within Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
According to Emirates News Agency, the Sakina Centre of Advanced Care is among a select group of specialised facilities worldwide dedicated to advanced psychiatric care. The centre offers focused treatment for major depressive disorder and psychiatric emergencies through an integrated, multidisciplinary model. This model combines psychiatry, psychology, nursing, pharmacology, and lifestyle support, utilizing the latest evidence-based therapies and innovative treatment approaches.
The opening of the centre represents a strategic addition to Abu Dhabi's mental health ecosystem, emphasizing early intervention, improved patient outcomes, and continuous training and development for clinicians and mental health professionals. This milestone follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between SEHA and Johnson and Johnson in February 2025, reinforcing Abu Dhabi's position as a global hub for advanced mental health services.
Dr. Zain Al Yafei, Chief Executive Officer of SEHA Sakina, highlighted that the initiative is not just about infrastructure but is focused on delivering timely, compassionate, and effective care to those in need. Pedro Matos, Managing Director of Johnson and Johnson Innovative Medicine - Gulf, expressed that the collaboration in developing clinical protocols with Sakina exemplifies a commitment to advancing evidence-based care and providing access to the most effective treatment options.
The centre's mission is to promote a holistic and sustainable model of care, enhancing the healthcare system's readiness to respond to psychiatric emergencies. This aligns with the Department of Health's vision to build a more resilient and mentally aware community.
