AD Ports Group and Kuwait Ports Authority Sign MoU for Container Operations at Shuaiba Port

Kuwait city: AD Ports Group, a prominent global enabler of integrated trade, industry, and logistics solutions, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kuwait Ports Authority (KPA) to explore the development and operation of container operations at Shuaiba Port. The signing ceremony, held in Kuwait City, was attended by Dr. Noura Al Mashaan, Minister of Public Works of the State of Kuwait, and Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Sheikh Khaled Salem Al Sabah, Director-General of the Kuwait Ports Authority, and Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group. Under the agreement, AD Ports Group will conduct technical, environmental, and financial feasibility studies, following internationally recognized specifications and standards agreed upon by both parties. The group will also identify infrastructure requirements for the project.

In this collaboration, the Kuwait Ports Authority will allocate the project site at Shuaiba Port and work with AD Ports Group to complete the necessary studies. They will also facilitate obtaining all required licenses and approvals from relevant Kuwaiti authorities.

Khaled Salem Al Sabah expressed that the agreement underscores the Kuwait Ports Authority's commitment to enhancing cooperation with AD Ports Group in the maritime transport and ports sector. He emphasized the importance of promoting joint investment and economic collaboration based on mutual interests and shared benefits. Al Sabah conveyed enthusiasm in collaborating with AD Ports Group on the development and operation of Shuaiba Port's container terminal and its quays, highlighting the potential to enhance the port's capabilities.

Captain Juma Al Shamisi remarked that the cooperation with Kuwait Ports Authority reflects the strong partnership between AD Ports Group and leading institutions in Kuwait. He noted that the collaboration aligns with the vision of the UAE's leadership, which is focused on sharing expertise and best practices with partners across the GCC. Al Shamisi emphasized that AD Ports Group, as a leading provider of integrated trade and logistics solutions and a global developer of ports and related infrastructure, will leverage its experience to ensure the project's success.
