Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has taken significant strides in boosting food security and agricultural innovation through the signing of four strategic agreements during the Global Food Week at ADNEC Abu Dhabi, scheduled from November 26 to 28.
According to Emirates News Agency, the first of these agreements, signed with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE), aims to regulate veterinary quarantine operations for live animals at Khalifa Port – KIZAD, Abu Dhabi. This agreement, formalized by Mohammed Saeed Sultan Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary at MOCCAE, and Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, Director General of ADAFSA, is set to create a robust framework to enhance biosecurity. It ensures the health and safety of live animal consignments imported and exported via Abu Dhabi by establishing a regulatory framework for comprehensive cooperation, conducting necessary laboratory tests, and ensuring compliance with animal health requirements.
In a move to bolster
the poultry sector, ADAFSA has entered into a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Association Of Poultry Breeders. Spearheaded by Sheikh Hamad bin Khadem bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the Association, and Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri, this partnership aims to create a comprehensive framework for organizing and advancing the poultry sector in Abu Dhabi. The agreement focuses on modernizing poultry production, supporting producers through structured agreements, and exploring marketing opportunities for small-scale producers. It also emphasizes research and development to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the sector.
Furthermore, ADAFSA has signed an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC) to develop conformity programs for agricultural professions. This collaboration, attended by Saeed Al Bahri Salem Al Ameri and Abdulla Ahmed Al Yazeedi, Acting Secretary General of ADQCC, aims to enhance workforce skills and prepare professional conformity programs for various agricul

Lastly, ADAFSA’s partnership with the Technology Innovation Institute (TII) is set to address agricultural challenges using advanced technology. This collaboration focuses on optimizing natural resource use, improving crop quality, and exploring sustainable practices to reduce pollution and develop a circular economy in agriculture. Key areas of cooperation include developing camel-derived antibodies, producing bio-proteins, and deploying smart farming techniques to enhance agricultural productivity and environmental safety.
