Al Ain:The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) is featuring handmade products and crafts created by inmates from correctional and rehabilitation centres at the 12th Traditional Handicrafts Festival in Al Ain. The event is scheduled from 23rd October to 11th November.
According to Wam, these products are the result of vocational training programmes that aim to develop inmates' skills and prepare them for reintegration into society. The festival, organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi at Souq Al Qattara, offers a platform for ADJD to emphasize its rehabilitation initiatives while supporting the preservation of Emirati heritage and traditional crafts.
The ADJD's pavilion showcases a variety of items including wooden and leather artworks, paintings inspired by Emirati heritage, tailoring, embroidery, and other handmade products. These exhibits highlight the skills and creativity inmates have developed through the training programmes.
ADJD stated that its participation in the festival underscores its efforts to blend vocational rehabilitation with practical experience. This initiative enables inmates to enhance their craftsmanship, display their talents, and acquire skills that may assist in their entry into the labour market following their release.
