ADRA Conducts 740 Field Visits to Enhance Market Stability, Protect Consumers

Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Registration Authority (ADRA), an arm of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED) dedicated to developing and regulating the emirate's business sector, has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing market stability. The authority aims to ensure the availability of goods and services at fair prices while safeguarding consumer rights.

According to Emirates News Agency, ADRA has been actively conducting monitoring campaigns and inspection visits across various establishments and markets. These efforts are designed to ensure compliance with approved regulations and to identify any practices that could disrupt market equilibrium or harm consumers.

In response to recent developments, ADRA issued a circular mandating that economic establishments maintain the supply of essential goods in sufficient quantities. The circular also prohibits price increases for goods or services without legitimate and documented justification, in accordance with prevailing legislation. Furthermore, it emphasizes the necessity of offering goods in reasonable quantities that meet consumers' typical needs and warns against any monopolistic practices.

ADRA reported conducting 740 field visits in Abu Dhabi City, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra Regions. These visits led to the identification of numerous violations, including non-compliance with directives from competent authorities by some establishments. As a result, the authority issued 416 warnings and imposed 38 fines.

The authority continues to vigilantly monitor market activity and supply and demand indicators, coordinating with relevant entities to ensure the smooth operation of supply chains and the availability of essential goods. Mohamed Munif Al Mansoori, Director-General of ADRA, emphasized the authority's focus on market stability, highlighting that regulatory and awareness initiatives help foster market confidence and establish a fair and sustainable business environment.

ADRA has urged both consumers and traders to cooperate in reporting any irregular practices through official channels, which aids in supporting market stability and achieving a balanced environment for all stakeholders.
