Hanoi:The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Medical Committee has approved new guidelines to enhance player safety in children's football and has recommended Vietnam as the host nation for the 2027 AFC Medical Conference.
According to Emirates News Agency, the committee has approved heading and safety guidelines specifically aimed at children's football, following a proposal from the AFC Technical Committee. This proposal emphasizes the need for validation by medical experts before these guidelines are implemented.
The committee has recommended that the Vietnam Football Federation host the AFC Medical Conference in 2027, marking the first time the event will be held in Vietnam, with Hanoi suggested as the host city. The previous conference, held in Kuala Lumpur, attracted over 800 international sports medicine professionals, setting a record for attendance.
Additionally, the Sejong Sports Medicine and Performance Centre has been confirmed as an AFC Medical Centre of Excellence, making it the first facility in the Republic of Korea to receive such recognition. The committee has also approved the creation of an AFC Extreme Conditions Advisory Expert Panel, tasked with reassessing protocols for safe participation in extreme temperatures and air pollution.
