Abu dhabi: The Office Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, along with the Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE), has introduced a pioneering initiative inviting the public to participate in designing a commemorative coin using generative artificial intelligence. This initiative marks a significant step in capturing the UAE's technological journey through innovative design, reflecting its progress in the realms of past, present, and future.
According to Emirates News Agency, this initiative is launched as part of the UAE Codes Day activities. The day commemorates the launch of the region's first e-government by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on October 29, 2001, a milestone that initiated the UAE's digital transformation. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, highlighted that this initiative underscores the UAE's commitment to positioning itself as a global hub for innovation and technology. It also aims to empower society to contribute to digital transformation using generative AI tools.
Al Olama stated, "Through this commemorative coin design challenge, we celebrate the UAE's journey, one that combines ambition and vision to harness technology for the benefit of societies." He emphasized the country's ongoing dedication to building on its achievements to reinforce its global leadership in AI and coding, advancing a digital future driven by innovation and community participation.
Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, added that the UAE Codes initiative embodies the leadership's vision of solidifying the nation's status as an innovation hub. This initiative leverages artificial intelligence to create digital solutions and futuristic services that support a sustainable, knowledge-based economy. He noted that the Commemorative Coin Design Challenge serves as a national model for enhancing community engagement in digital creativity and developing innovative skills, contributing to the UAE's economic aspirations.
The challenge aims to bolster the UAE's leadership in innovation, artificial intelligence, and digital creativity. The winning design will be featured on an official commemorative coin issued by the Central Bank, symbolizing the nation's vision for a technology-driven future and its achievements in digital transformation and AI. Participants are required to design their coins using generative AI tools, maintaining a circular format suitable for minting and adhering to ethical and legal standards. The winner will be announced during the UAE Codes 2025 events.
