Damascus: Al-Azhar has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that targeted the Mar Elias Church in the Al-Duwaila'a area east of Damascus, resulting in the deaths of dozens of civilians and causing injuries to many others. The attack was perpetrated by an individual described as a 'brutal terrorist' lacking humanity and compassion.
According to Emirates News Agency, Al-Azhar released a statement asserting that such barbaric crimes are in stark opposition to the principles of divine religions and human ethics. These actions violate fundamental human rights to life, safety, and worship, and they contribute to inflaming sectarian tensions among citizens of the same nation.
Al-Azhar urged collective action against terrorism in all its forms and called for efforts to stabilize the region, protect civilians, and free them from the cycle of violence and sectarianism.
