Tripoli: Representative of the Presidential Council, Abdullah Al-Lafi, discussed yesterday with the UN Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Stephanie Koury, the latest political and economic developments in the country. The communication office of the Presidential Council stated that the meeting discussed the recent developments with the aim to avoid escalation and reduce tension between various parties through working on a sound political project that addresses controversial issues, reassures all parties, and provides comprehensive and sustainable solutions that serve the interests of the Libyan people. Al-Lafi stressed the Presidential Council's support for the efforts of UNSMIL, stressing the need to achieve a consensus among all parties and to commit to a political path that includes all and leads to holding presidential and parliamentary elections.
