ALC and Arabookverse Unveil Digital Arabic Library to Global Audience

Abu dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC), part of the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT), has announced the launch of the Digital Arabic Library in collaboration with Arabookverse (ABV), an audiobook and e-book publisher. The initiative aims to make thousands of Arabic-language publications accessible in digital and audio formats to readers across the globe.

According to Emirates News Agency, the project was unveiled during ALC's participation in the 77th Frankfurt Book Fair. This multi-year project, led by the Centre, is designed to provide millions of readers with access to a vast collection of Arabic printed, electronic, and audio publications. The initiative aligns with ALC's strategy to transform the digitisation of Arabic books and bolster the Arabic publishing industry through innovative projects like the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair.

Dr. Ali bin Tamim, Chairman of the ALC, emphasized the project's role in offering new and innovative channels for accessing Arabic cultural content, especially given the limited availability of Arabic content online in comparison to the number of Arabic speakers.

Ali Abdel-Moneim, Co-Founder and CEO of Arabookverse, expressed pride in partnering with the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, highlighting its pioneering efforts to promote the Arabic language and culture globally.

To ensure the project's success, ALC plans to establish a high-level steering committee and advisory committees to oversee the selection process and maintain the Centre's high standards for content quality.
