Amna Al Shamsi’s Historic Appointment to IPSASB Consultative Advisory Group


Abu dhabi: Amna Hassan Al Shamsi, the Director of Financial Policies and Government Accounting Standards at the Ministry of Finance, has been appointed as a member of the Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB). Her term on the Group is for three years, with the possibility of renewal up to nine years. This appointment marks the first time that the UAE has been officially represented on this international council, which is crucial in the development of global public sector accounting standards and the promotion of financial governance and transparency across governments worldwide.



According to Emirates News Agency, this appointment underscores international confidence in Emirati national talent and their pivotal role in shaping financial policies and government accounting practices. Younis Haji AlKhoori, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance, stated that this achievement is a significant milestone in the UAE’s history of active participation in global financial organizations. It reaffirms the UAE’s leadership in adopting high international standards in public financial management.



AlKhoori further mentioned that Al Shamsi’s appointment aligns with the ‘We the UAE 2031’ Vision and demonstrates the nation’s commitment to fiscal sustainability and government transparency. He emphasized that her membership in the council underscores the important role of Emirati women in international financial leadership and reflects the UAE’s dedication to empowering national talent to contribute to the development of global financial frameworks.



The Consultative Advisory Group (CAG) serves as a key advisory arm of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB). It includes representatives from international organizations, financial institutions, and government bodies worldwide, providing strategic and technical advice on the development of International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS).
