Arab Conference on Intellectual Property Kicks Off Tuesday at University of Sharjah

Sharjah: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, the Fourth Arab Conference on Intellectual Property will begin at the University of Sharjah from Tuesday, September 23 to Thursday, September 25. The conference is themed 'Protecting Intellectual Property Rights in the Era of Digital Technologies.'

According to Emirates News Agency, the conference is organized by the University of Sharjah in collaboration with the Arab Administrative Development Organisation (ARADO) - League of Arab States, the Emirates Intellectual Property Association, and the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology. The event aims to address the challenges posed by digital technologies and artificial intelligence applications to intellectual property rights protection. It will also discuss the development of legal frameworks to enhance protection at both national and international levels, ensuring the equitable use and distribution of intellectual works.

Over three days, the conference will delve into several crucial topics, including the adaptability of international agreements on intellectual property rights in the face of rapidly advancing digital technologies. Discussions will also cover legal challenges present in both real and virtual environments, the evolution of digital transformation, and the application of artificial intelligence in intellectual property protection. Additionally, the role of media in raising awareness about intellectual property rights and the integration of intellectual property concepts into academic curricula will be explored.

The conference agenda features more than seven scientific sessions and panel discussions. It will gather numerous intellectual property experts and specialists from around the world, alongside faculty members, students, and researchers from the University's various colleges. Participants will include professionals from law enforcement entities like Interpol, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and international patent offices, all actively engaged in intellectual property and technology transfer fields.
