Damascus: Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the Arab League, condemned the Iranian attack involving a missile strike on an ADNOC tanker as it transited the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Emirates News Agency, Fahmy issued a statement on behalf of the Arab League, describing the attack as the latest in a series of Iranian violations concerning the principle of freedom of navigation and the safety of maritime routes. He emphasized that such actions are in direct violation of UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2817, which upholds the freedom of navigation and opposes attacks on commercial vessels.
Fahmy held Tehran fully responsible for these attacks on Arab assets, underscoring that they contravene established international norms regarding freedom of navigation and the safety of waterways. He warned of serious repercussions for the security and stability of the region due to these aggressive actions.
