League of Arab States stressed the need to stop armed clashes in order to spare bloodshed, to preserve the security and safety of the Sudanese people, their gains, territorial integrity and sovereignty, to preserve Sudanese national institutions, and to reject any external interference in their internal affairs. This came in a speech by Hossam Zaki, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, during his participation, on behalf of the Secretary-General of the Arab League, in the work of the extraordinary summit (42) of the Intergovernmental Authority for Development (IGAD), which was held yesterday, Thursday, in Entebbe, Uganda. Zaki stressed full support for efforts to achieve the conditions for a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, including efforts that lead to bloodshed in the country, in addition to supporting the launch of a comprehensive Sudanese political path that leads to the formation of a transitional government with specific, agreed-upon tasks, with the importance of involvi ng the Sudanese state, in any regional or international initiatives being launched.
