Doha, The Expo 2023 Doha Convention Center hosted the youth awareness forum organized by Al Adaam Ambassadors Program and sponsored by the Ministry of Sports and Youth, with the aim of shedding light on ways to preserve natural resources, reduce pollution, and preserve biodiversity.
Moderated by Manar Al Suwaidi, the forum held under the title 'Youth Environmental Awareness for a Greener Future' and focused on the role of youth in the field of environmental sustainability. An elite of young people spoke during the event. They reviewed the efforts and contributions of the State of Qatar in the field of sustainable environmental development and its preservation by reducing the negative impacts resulting from urban and economic growth and rationalizing the use of natural resources. They also discussed the concept of sustainability through the axes of sustainable development, biodiversity, water sustainability and renewable energy, environmental biotechnology, and nutritional aspect.
Al Anoud Al Maqbali spoke about the State of Qatar's great role and its efforts in reducing food waste, contributing to achieving the Qatar National Vision 2030, as Qatar has developed a strategy to implement initiatives based on best practices to reduce food waste at various stages of the food supply chain by legalizing the reduction so that the maximum time taken not exceeding 6 hours, noting that the State has established the largest waste treatment center through which organic fertilizer is produced and electrical energy is generated.
She also pointed to local initiatives for food preservation established in order to achieve social solidarity among members of society such as the Hifz Al Naema Center and the food preservation bank, in addition to the establishment of cold stores that contributed to reducing food waste of commodities.
