Bahrain and US Sign Agreement on Peaceful Nuclear Energy

Brussels: The Kingdom of Bahrain and the United States have entered into an agreement focused on cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy. This development comes as part of Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain's, official visit to Washington.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was formalized by Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The primary goals of the agreement include supporting Bahrain's energy security efforts and its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, while also contributing to global initiatives addressing climate change.

Al Zayani described the agreement as a 'significant qualitative leap' in the strategic partnership between Bahrain and the United States. He highlighted that this agreement is a direct result of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) signed in 2023, which bolstered cooperation in defence, security, and emerging technologies.

Furthermore, Al Zayani stated that both nations aim to deploy advanced technologies through this agreement to ensure safe, secure, and reliable civil nuclear energy. He underscored the role of nuclear power as a low-carbon energy source that aligns with the mutual interests of the two countries.
