Free Patriotic Movement leader, MP Gebran Bassil, on Wednesday held a series of contacts, within the framework of the diplomatic action plan approved by the "Strong Lebanon" bloc yesterday to push for a real ceasefire. In this context, MP Bassil welcomed British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, French Ambassador to Lebanon, Hervé Magro, and the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Janine Hennis-Plasschaert. The discussions focused on the need for these countries and international institutions to pressure Israel to stop its aggression against Lebanon and assume responsibility towards its protection. The discussion also touched on the need to provide aid to the increasing number of people displaced from their homes destroyed due to the systematic Israeli bombardment. Bassil stressed before his visitors that "Israel's committed acts constitute a war crime and ethnic cleansing that suggests the existence of a plan to provoke internal strife and manipulate the national fabric, which requires international condemnation."
