BEIJING: The Chinese capital Beijing plans to build an urban greenway system stretching for 5,000 kilometers, according to a plan released by municipal authorities on Wednesday. According to China Central Television, the plan, jointly formulated by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Planning and Natural Resources and the Beijing Municipal Forestry and Parks Bureau, seeks to establish a network of greenways traversing the city centre, flatlands, and mountainous regions. The greenways will either be built or repurposed from underused infrastructure.
