Abu Dhabi:Borouge International, a leading polyolefins producer, is advancing its use of artificial intelligence and digitalisation throughout its global operations. This initiative covers various aspects of the company's value chain, including production, innovation, supply chain, logistics, and customer engagement, with the goal of enhancing efficiency and competitiveness.
According to Emirates News Agency, the announcement was made during ADIPEC 2026, where Borouge International revealed its strategic partnerships with prominent technology and industrial companies such as Microsoft, Emerson, Immensa, and Cognite. These collaborations aim to expedite the integration of AI and digitalisation across the company's operations, with an expected value generation of $100 million by 2027, as Borouge, Borealis, and NOVA Chemicals continue to integrate.
Dr. Hasan Karam, Chief Operating Officer of Borouge International, emphasized the central role of AI and digitalisation in transforming the company into an agile and efficient global entity. The company has already implemented the world's largest Real-Time Optimisation (RTO) system in the UAE and plans to expand this system globally, including key sites in North America.
Borouge International's strategy also involves establishing an advanced industrial optimisation network to accelerate the deployment of proven solutions, thereby enhancing operational excellence and realising value across continents. Earlier this year, the company successfully tested AI-powered autonomous operations at its Ruwais facility, marking progress towards the petrochemical industry's first AI-driven control room for real-time operations.
The company’s global presence allows it to demonstrate the effectiveness of its AI and digital solutions at one site and quickly scale them across its operations. This approach not only accelerates value creation but also reduces deployment risks and enhances capabilities across the value chain, including machine learning for forecasting, digital twins for predictive maintenance, and 3D printing for supply chain efficiency.
