China’s Auto Production and Sales Surge in March

Beijing: China's automobile production and sales experienced a significant increase in March compared to the previous month, industry data revealed on Friday. Automobile production reached 2.92 million units, while sales totaled 2.9 million units, marking a month-on-month increase of 74.4 percent and 60.6 percent, respectively.

According to Emirates News Agency, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported that new energy vehicle (NEV) production and sales were recorded at 1.23 million units and 1.25 million units, respectively. The first quarter of the year saw total automobile production at 7.04 million units and sales at 7.05 million units.

During the same period, NEV production and sales were 2.97 million units and 2.96 million units, respectively. Looking forward to the second quarter, the effects of policies like the large-scale equipment renewal and consumer goods trade-in programs are expected to continue to take effect. Additionally, the Beijing auto show is anticipated to introduce a range of new model launches, which will help sustain market momentum and boost automotive consumption, stated Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary-General of the association.
