The event, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 19th to 21st, emphasizes CDA's commitment to improving the quality of life for People of Determination and their families by enhancing access to specialized services and expanding opportunities for societal participation.
According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum visited the CDA pavilion, where Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, the Director General of CDA, presented a project aimed at creating a unified database for People of Determination in Dubai. This initiative seeks to enhance data integration among relevant entities, improve strategic planning, and develop policies that address the specific needs of these individuals more effectively.
The project emphasizes the importance of electronic connectivity to reduce duplicate registrations and provide updated, integrated data for better service delivery. This approach aims to identify individual needs based on the type and degree of disability, enabling relevant entities to prioritize resources and support equitably.
Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid stressed the importance of understanding the needs of People of Determination and their families to develop specialized support that fosters independence and participation in various life aspects. She highlighted the CDA's commitment to protection, advocacy, and empowerment through an integrated system of services.
CDA's pavilion features specialized services and consultations, including child growth monitoring, early screening, and guidance on accessing services. It also showcases early intervention, rehabilitation, care, and psychological support services. The pavilion introduces the Sind Tourist Card, explains the registration process, and offers materials on the rights of People of Determination and social inclusion.
Maitha Al Shamsi, CEO of the Community Empowerment Sector at CDA, affirmed the importance of promoting the rights and talents of People of Determination, expanding their community participation. She emphasized the need for inclusive communication and partnerships to develop initiatives that meet actual needs and enhance participation across different life areas.
During the expo, CDA will host the 'POD Got Talent' platform, where 17 talented People of Determination will demonstrate their skills in piano, drawing, and LEGO model building. The platform aims to nurture their talents and expand their participation in community activities.
Additionally, the CDA, in collaboration with the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, is organizing 'Career Opportunity Meetings' under the 'Makkin' initiative. This initiative aims to prepare 165 Emiratis, including 15 People of Determination, for the job market. These meetings will include on-the-spot job interviews to assess qualifications and guide jobseekers towards suitable opportunities within government entities, aligning with Dubai Social Agenda 33's objectives to empower individuals and enhance societal participation.
