Competent Authorities Apprehend Arab National for Unlawful Filming in Fujairah

Fujairah: The competent authorities in the Emirate of Fujairah have apprehended an individual, identified as A.M., an Arab national, for trespassing and filming in restricted areas without securing the requisite official permits. This act constitutes a direct violation of the laws and regulations enforced in the country.

According to Emirates News Agency, the authorities disclosed that A.M. had clandestinely infiltrated these sensitive sites before being detected and subsequently arrested. During the interrogation, it was revealed that A.M. is employed by a media organization but lacked any authorization to access or film in the restricted locations.

Further investigations uncovered that the suspect used a rented vehicle linked to a journalist from the Dubai branch of a foreign media organization to enter the site. The individual has now been referred to the Public Prosecution to face legal proceedings for entering prohibited sites and filming without the necessary licenses.

Investigations further confirmed that the accused violated the applicable laws by conducting unauthorized filming activities, contravening the enforced filming bans in those areas. It was also revealed that the recorded footage was electronically transmitted to a news organization in London without official authorization, following directives from the Gulf regional branch manager of the company, identified as B.A., also an Arab national.

The UAE laws clearly criminalize unauthorized entry or presence in restricted areas, even if unaccompanied by other actions. The legislation also prohibits taking photographs, preparing maps, recording coordinates, or any documentation that breaches restrictions set by competent authorities.

The UAE Public Prosecution has emphasized the critical importance of adhering to the prevailing laws and securing prior official permits for any filming activities. This is especially crucial in sensitive or restricted areas to ensure public safety and uphold security and public order.
