Dubai:H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, held a meeting with Steve Davis, President of The Boring Company, at his office in Dubai. The Boring Company is a US-based firm specializing in tunneling and infrastructure.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting was attended by several notable figures including Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors at the Roads and Transport Authority, as well as Jared Birchall and John Hering from The Boring Company.
Discussions focused on cooperation and advancements in the Dubai Loop passenger transport tunnel project. The project aims to revolutionize urban mobility by utilizing advanced technologies to improve movement efficiency in dense urban areas.
Since the agreement's inception in February, significant progress has been made. Technical and engineering workstreams are underway, including assembling the tunnel boring machine and casting concrete tunnel-lining segments.
Dubai Loop is envisioned as a future mobility project employing an underground electric vehicle transport system. It seeks to enhance urban connectivity, provide flexible mobility solutions, and support Dubai's commitment to innovative and sustainable transport development.
