Dubai: The Dawoodi Bohra community in the UAE has contributed AED1 million to the Fathers' Endowment campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. The campaign honors fathers in the UAE by establishing a sustainable endowment fund to provide treatment and healthcare for the less fortunate.
According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign operates under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and allows individuals to donate in the name of their fathers. It promotes the values of honoring parents, compassion, and solidarity, while also helping to strengthen the UAE's position as a leader in charitable and humanitarian work. Additionally, it aims to establish the concept of charitable endowments by creating a community-wide movement to support its objectives.
Kinana Jamaluddin, Representative of Sultan Al Bohra and Head of the Bohra community in Dubai, emphasized the humanitarian aspect of the campaign, which aims to assist the impoverished and alleviate the suffering of the less fortunate worldwide. This aligns with Islamic teachings and the UAE's traditions of giving and generosity. He noted that the contribution to the Ramadan endowment campaign reflects the UAE's humanitarian efforts to promote a culture of giving and provide essential healthcare resources for those in need, serving as a tribute to fathers and affirming human values.
The campaign continues to welcome donations and contributions to the endowment fund from institutions and individuals through six main channels, including its website (Fathersfund.ae) and a dedicated call center via the toll-free number (800 4999). Donations can also be made via bank transfers in the UAE dirham to the campaign bank account with Emirates Islamic Bank (IBAN: AE020340003518492868201). SMS donations are possible by sending the word "Father" to specified numbers for different amounts for Etisalat by eand and du users.
Additionally, donations can be made through the DubaiNow app by selecting the "Donations" tab and through Dubai's community contributions platform Jood (Jood.ae).
