Abu Dhabi:The Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi has unveiled the fifth edition of its 'Wyakom' platform, an initiative aimed at empowering Emirati youth for family life. This platform seeks to engage community members in sharing ideas to address pressing social priorities in Abu Dhabi, in alignment with UAE Innovation Month and the Year of the Family.
According to Wam, the focus of this year's edition is on helping Emirati youth prepare for marriage. It invites innovative solutions that will aid them in building successful, enduring marriages while balancing their educational, career, and personal development goals, and enhancing their financial preparedness.
Since its inception in 2022, 'Wyakom' has garnered over 729 community ideas and initiatives. These have led to the launch of new projects and the enhancement of existing ones in collaboration with various entities, thereby elevating the social impact and quality of life across Abu Dhabi.
The platform continues to serve as a venue where the community's input is transformed into practical, innovative solutions that support social development and improve life quality in the emirate. Dr. Saeed Tareq Aljneibi, Senior Innovation Specialist at the Innovation and Strategic Partnerships Office at DCD, emphasized the role of the community in not just receiving solutions but actively participating in their design and impact.
Dr. Aljneibi highlighted that this edition addresses the critical issue of Emirati youth's readiness for marriage and family life, seeking ideas deeply rooted in an understanding of young people's needs. The initiative underscores the importance of investing in youth readiness as a foundation for future family stability and social cohesion.
The DCD encourages community members to submit their innovative ideas for the current edition of 'Wyakom.' These submissions will undergo evaluation and development, with the most promising ones being selected for further refinement to maximize their social impact.
