Dubai: Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), held a meeting with a high-level delegation from Cisco, led by Dr. Guy Diedrich, Senior Vice President and Global Innovation Officer. The focus of the discussion was on enhancing co-operation and expanding partnerships in the realm of digital transformation, with particular attention on leveraging artificial intelligence technologies to bolster Dubai's electricity and water sectors.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting took place during GITEX Global 2025 and included Marwan Bin Haidar, Vice Chairman - Digital and Group CEO of Digital DEWA, Waleed Bin Salman, Vice Chairman - Energy at Digital DEWA, and Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Data Hub Integrated Solutions (Moro). Al Tayer emphasized DEWA's commitment to comprehensive digital transformation and its integration of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies, including AI, as part of the Dubai Economic Agenda 'D33'. This aligns with the goal to position Dubai among the world's top 10 digital economies and to foster a sustainable digital future through innovation and knowledge.
The discussions highlighted the existing collaboration between DEWA and Cisco, particularly in digital infrastructure projects managed by DEWA through its digital arm, Moro. DEWA employs Cisco's solutions and products, such as servers and network systems, to operate its cloud platform. Moro is recognized as a partner in the Cisco Managed Services Programme (MSP), and both organizations are working together on developing Observability Solutions hosted in Moro's environmentally friendly data centers.
The meeting further delved into DEWA's ongoing information technology initiatives in partnership with Cisco, including the deployment of Cisco NAC across all DEWA buildings following a successful testing phase. Other projects include the establishment of software-designed access using the DNAC platform, the execution of the data center connectivity project, and the testing of Cisco Umbrella solutions for network security.
