DEWA and Huawei Explore Enhanced Digital Transformation Collaboration

Dubai: Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a high-level delegation from Huawei led by Philip Gan, President of the Middle East and Central Asia, to discuss deeper collaboration in digital transformation. The meeting took place during GITEX Global 2025, focusing on enhancing cooperation in deploying smart infrastructure and advanced information and communications technology solutions to support Dubai's sustainable, innovation-driven digital economy.

According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting included various key figures from DEWA and its subsidiaries, such as Marwan Bin Haidar, Vice Chairman - Digital and Group CEO of Digital DEWA; Waleed Bin Salman, Vice Chairman - Energy at Digital DEWA; Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub; and Rashid Alahmedi, Chief Operating Officer of InfraX. Al Tayer highlighted DEWA's commitment to aligning with the UAE's strategic visions, including the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 and the UAE Fourth Industrial Revolution Strategy, aimed at establishing the UAE as a global economic hub rooted in knowledge and innovation.

Al Tayer underscored that the collaboration between DEWA, its Digital DEWA subsidiaries, and Huawei is focused on developing innovative technologies to enhance efficiency and sustainability in the energy and water sectors. This partnership aims to improve the user experience and offer more efficient and sustainable services. It aligns with DEWA's strategy to integrate digital transformation and adopt technologies from the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence across its operations and services, supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda 'D33' to position Dubai among the top 10 digital economies globally.

A significant aspect of DEWA's partnership with Huawei is the development of several pioneering digital projects, including the Moro's Green Data Centre at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's largest solar-powered data centre.
