DEWA Celebrates Emirati Women’s Day with Month-Long Programme

Dubai:More than 600 female employees from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) participated in a month-long programme celebrating Emirati Women's Day. The initiative underscored the UAE's dedication to empowering women and acknowledging their role in national development.

According to Emirates News Agency, the DEWA Women's Committee organized the programme under the theme 'We Emerge Stronger and Better'. It brought together employees at DEWA's new Al Shera'a headquarters and its branches in Al Ruwayyah, Warsan, and Umm Hurair 2, focusing on women's empowerment, wellbeing, and national identity. The celebration also recognized employees who have significantly contributed to DEWA's success.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, emphasized the UAE's appreciation for Emirati women and their achievements across various fields. He highlighted the commitment to women's empowerment initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and continued under the leadership of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.

Fatima Mohammed Al Jokar, Chairperson of DEWA Women's Committee, noted the integrated programme aimed to combine women empowerment with pride in Emirati identity and heritage, focusing on health, quality of life, and honoring female employees for their contributions to DEWA's goals.

DEWA also participated in the Emirati Women Forum 2026 as a strategic partner. The forum, organized by the Dubai Women Establishment, was held under the patronage of Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. During the event, DEWA Women's Committee members engaged in panel discussions on Emirati women's leadership roles and their impact.

Additionally, the Dubai Women Establishment conducted a workshop in collaboration with Hult International Business School, attended by 15 DEWA female employees. The workshop, 'Leadership amid Challenges', explored leadership styles and resilience.

Al Tayer honored Emirati female employees for their contributions to completing Al Shera'a. The ceremony featured workshops and a video showcasing the Women's Committee's achievements.

The DEWA Women's Committee also organized events celebrating Emirati heritage and culture, including workshops on jewellery-making, traditional crafts, flower arranging, and Arabic calligraphy, along with sessions on mental and physical wellbeing.
