DEWA’s AI Integration Enhances Afkari Platform Efficiency

Dubai:Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), has announced a significant enhancement in the efficiency of the Afkari platform due to the integration of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This integration has accelerated the submission of innovative ideas by up to 25% and significantly reduced the evaluation cycle from 28 days to just seven.

According to Wam, the AI-powered enablers have improved the quality of ideas and the efficiency of their assessment. This advancement has streamlined the review process for both employees and the evaluation committee by enhancing the accuracy of results and identifying areas for improvement.

Al Tayer expressed DEWA's commitment to empowering innovative ideas and transforming them into practical solutions and projects that contribute to sustainable economic and societal value across DEWA's divisions. This initiative aligns with DEWA's vision of becoming a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation dedicated to achieving net zero by 2050 and reinforces Dubai's status as a hub for innovation and future solutions development.

He emphasized DEWA's focus on fostering a culture of innovation among its employees as a sustainable practice and integrated work approach. DEWA provides tools and channels to empower employees to develop transformative ideas, enhance stakeholder experiences, and build resilient, future-ready, knowledge-based work ecosystems that anticipate challenges and create opportunities.

The innovative ideas from DEWA's employees have significantly contributed to the organization's excellence. DEWA was awarded the Hamdan Flag for 2025 after achieving the best results in implementing the Services 360 Policy, setting a benchmark in developing integrated government services. Additionally, DEWA ranks first globally across 13 key performance indicators for utility service performance and holds two leading regional positions in the utility sector in production, transmission, distribution, and customer service.

DEWA has integrated AI-powered Microsoft 365 Copilot into Afkari. The Afkari Copilot Agent, through structured prompts, aids employees in evaluating ideas, identifying stakeholders, assessing feasibility, refining concepts, and merging related ideas for maximum value. It also facilitates self-assessments, helping employees strengthen their proposals before submission.

The Afkari platform enables employees to submit ideas and initiate campaigns that address challenges and open new opportunities.
