DP World and MIT RAISE Host Day of AI Global Summit in Dubai

Dubai: DP World, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's (MIT) Responsible AI for Social Empowerment and Education (RAISE) initiative, is set to host the Day of AI Global Summit in Dubai. This event will gather global leaders, educators, and policymakers to discuss how artificial intelligence can enhance education and economic growth.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Summit will take place at Expo City Dubai from 18th to 19th November. This marks the first international edition of MIT RAISE's Day of AI programme, which aims to equip teachers and students globally with skills essential for thriving in an AI-enabled future. The MIT RAISE initiative, backed by a multi-million-dollar investment from DP World, seeks to make 250,000 teachers and 6 million students around the world AI-literate within the next year.

The two-day event will feature keynote addresses, ministerial roundtables, and interactive sessions led by experts from MIT, the World Bank, and education ministries across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Professor Cynthia Breazeal, Director of MIT RAISE, and Professor Eric Klopfer, Director of the Scheller Teacher Education Programme and The Education Arcade at MIT, will deliver keynotes on the responsible application of AI to enhance learning and economic opportunities.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, DP World Group Chairman and CEO, emphasized the importance of education and innovation as progress drivers. By partnering with MIT RAISE, the Day of AI Global Summit aims to equip students and teachers with the necessary tools for success in the age of artificial intelligence. The UAE's commitment to technology as a positive force is reflected in this partnership, aiming for a smarter, more inclusive future.

The Summit will address AI literacy, policy design, teacher training, curriculum adaptation, and the global impact of AI on education and future-ready skills. The event will also showcase how technology can empower both educators and students. The World Bank will provide insights on advancing inclusive AI in education and economic development, alongside ministers from various nations, including the UAE, Rwanda, Latvia, Colombia, and Kazakhstan, who will discuss national strategies for responsible AI adoption in learning.

The Day of AI Global Summit is part of DP World's broader commitment to innovation and education. Last year, DP World launched the Global Education Platform, a $35 million initiative to reach 1.5 million students worldwide by 2030. This platform offers over 15 free digital resources and e-learning courses focused on STEM, green skills, logistics, and industry-recognized certifications, aiding young people in developing necessary future industry skills. These initiatives embody DP World's vision to leverage technology and learning for creating opportunities for the next generation.
