Dubai: Dubai Chamber of Commerce, one of the three chambers under Dubai Chambers, has organised an awareness event aimed at enhancing the inclusion of People of Determination in the private sector. The session focused on creating suitable working environments across different industries.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event was coordinated by the chamber's Centre for Responsible Business and saw participation from over 100 attendees. It brought together stakeholders to address key challenges in workplace inclusion for People of Determination. The session highlighted best practices, potential solutions, and experiences of employees with disabilities, fostering constructive discussions on developing practical strategies for more inclusive workplaces.
Maha Al Gargawi, Vice President of Business Advocacy at Dubai Chambers, stated, "We are committed to empowering the private sector to develop an integrated framework that safeguards the right to work for People of Determination and actively promotes their contribution to economic growth." She emphasized equipping the business community with the necessary knowledge and insights to create inclusive workplaces and facilitate effective integration into the labour market.
The event included representatives from Dubai's Community Development Authority, Dubai Police, and Emirates airline. Discussions delved into policy frameworks supporting the inclusion of People of Determination, best practices in employment, and supportive infrastructure. Case studies of effective strategies and successful experiences were shared, alongside innovations and tools designed to aid People of Determination in performing tasks efficiently and independently.
A participant shared a personal journey in overcoming workplace challenges with the support of institutional backing and facilities provided, illustrating the positive impact of inclusive practices.
