Dubai: Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), recently visited the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, marking the authority's official delegation trip to Austria. This visit aims to forge stronger connections with global cultural and creative institutions, paving the way for new collaborative opportunities and the exchange of expertise in culture, digital arts, and emerging arts.
According to Emirates News Agency, the delegation is actively participating in the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz until 13 September. This engagement is part of Dubai Culture's strategy to stay abreast of global advancements and practices in the arts. The Authority is committed to fostering international partnerships that enhance Dubai's cultural and creative sectors, positioning the emirate as a global cultural leader in innovation and the creative economy while remaining rooted in Emirati heritage.
During their visit, the delegation toured the Ars Electronica Center, where Andreas Bauer, Managing Director, introduced them to its state-of-the-art facilities, exhibitions, and interactive experiences. Bauer emphasized the Center's unique approach in integrating art, technology, and science to provide fresh perspectives on the rapid global changes. The delegation explored projects in fields like artificial intelligence, robotics, neuroscience, and digital arts, showcasing how emerging technologies can present complex subjects through interactive experiences.
The visit also highlighted the Center's philosophy of fostering connections between artists, scientists, and the public to encourage experimentation and dialogue. A key highlight was the Deep Space 8K, an immersive digital environment using ultra-high-resolution projections to present a wide array of cultural and scientific content, demonstrating technology's potential in storytelling and audience engagement.
The delegation, comprising key figures like Shaima Rashed Al Suwaidi, Maitha Ali Al Blooshi, Ahlam Al Bannai, and Sara Al Pachachi, also explored the Design Center Linz. They investigated its multifunctional spaces and how it hosts various international cultural and creative events. Additionally, they attended the Prix Ars Electronica Award Ceremony, celebrating exceptional artists at the intersection of art, technology, and society.
Opened in 1996, the Ars Electronica Center is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. It serves as a major research and educational venue, exploring the evolving relationship between people and technology and its implications for the future.
