Dubai Health Achieves Prestigious JCI Enterprise Accreditation

Dubai:Dubai Health has proudly announced that it has achieved the Joint Commission International (JCI) enterprise accreditation across its integrated academic health system. This accreditation recognizes Dubai Health's adherence to the highest international standards of healthcare quality across its institutional and academic operations, as well as its hospitals, thereby enhancing patient experience.

According to Wam, Dubai Health is the first integrated academic health system in the UAE to receive this esteemed accreditation, which is considered a global standard for healthcare quality and patient safety. The accreditation process included a meticulous evaluation by JCI, which reviewed Dubai Health's central administrative functions against 149 standards, resulting in a 100% compliance rate. Additionally, its medical education and hospital operations attained a 99.7% compliance rate across 1,170 standards.

The assessment at the institutional level involved examining quality and performance improvement, governance and leadership, and system alignment and integration. At the academic and hospital levels, the evaluation focused on standards related to patient-centered care, patient safety, medical education, and professional training, highlighting the maturity of Dubai Health's model and the integration of care, learning, and discovery.

This achievement also marks the first time that all five Dubai Health hospitals—Rashid Hospital, Dubai Hospital, Hatta Hospital, Latifa Hospital, and Al Jalila Children's Hospital—underwent the JCI Academic Medical Center (AMC) accreditation survey simultaneously and successfully attained accreditation. This milestone builds on the hospitals' longstanding commitment to quality and patient safety, having previously received JCI accreditation.

Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), expressed pride in this recognition and noted it as a testament to their collective efforts across hospitals, academic, and institutional operations. He reiterated their commitment to continuous improvement and better patient experiences and outcomes.

Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi, Deputy CEO and Chief Academic Officer of Dubai Health and Provost of MBRU, emphasized the significance of achieving JCI AMC accreditation, which reflects the close connection between medical education and healthcare delivery, as well as the quality of their education and clinical training programs.

Dr. Entesar Al Hammadi, Chair of Patient Safety and Quality at Dubai Health, highlighted the ongoing focus on continuous improvement and alignment with global best practices, noting that the JCI accreditation process provided valuable opportunities to benchmark their performance internationally.

JCI is renowned as one of the world's leading healthcare accreditation bodies, with its Gold Seal of Approval® symbolizing excellence in healthcare quality and patient safety. The accreditation involves a rigorous evaluation process aimed at ensuring consistent, safe care and better patient outcomes across healthcare systems.
