Dubai Health and GE HealthCare Sign MoU to Transform Point-of-Care Ultrasound Education in MENA Region

Dubai: Dubai Health and GE HealthCare, a global leader in medical technology and digital solutions, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) education and practice across the UAE and the MENA region. The partnership focuses on co-developing AI solutions to aid clinical decision-making, thus improving patient care and outcomes in the region.

According to Emirates News Agency, the collaboration leverages Dubai Health's expertise in academics and innovation alongside GE HealthCare's technological prowess. This initiative aims to boost medical education and strengthen clinical decision-making to improve health outcomes throughout the UAE and the broader MENA region. As part of the agreement, Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) will be established as a POCUS Education Center of Excellence.

Key initiatives under this MoU include a 'Train-of-Trainer (TOT)' structured program designed to build capacity among certified facilitators and trainers. The Facilitator Training Program will enhance the scalability and effectiveness of POCUS programme delivery, enabling wider participation of attendees, students, and delegates across the region.

The partnership will also focus on co-developing AI solutions through Dubai Health Innovations to enhance patient care, drive medical advancements, and improve health outcomes. This will involve developing and validating emerging AI technologies in radiology and computer vision to improve diagnostic accuracy and streamline clinical workflows.

Dr. Hanan Al Suwaidi, Acting Chief Academic Officer of Dubai Health and Provost of MBRU, emphasized the collaboration's significance in delivering on Dubai Health's 'Patient First' promise by integrating care, learning, and innovation to elevate healthcare standards. Konstantinos Deligiannis, President of GE HealthCare EAGM, highlighted the MoU as a pivotal moment for POCUS advancement in the MENA region.

Dr. Rasha Buhumaid, Vice Dean of Graduate Medical Education at MBRU, and Professor Nabil Zary, Senior Director of the Institute of Learning at Dubai Health, both underscored the importance of education and continuous learning in achieving sustainable healthcare transformation. The MoU will be effective for two years and is renewable by mutual agreement.
