Dubai: Dubai Health and Queensland University of Technology (QUT), in collaboration with Siemens Healthineers and ArmHub, have successfully concluded the 'Healthcare Innovation and Sustainability Week', an international bootcamp aimed at advancing sustainability in academic health systems. The event brought together healthcare professionals, academics, students, and industry leaders from Brisbane and Dubai. According to Emirates News Agency, the two-week event explored how technology-enabled care models, digital health, design thinking, and sustainability principles can be integrated into clinical practice. The first week took place in Brisbane, where Dubai Health professionals engaged in Australia's academic healthcare ecosystem through symposium sessions and site visits to innovation facilities, including the Translational Research Institute, the Wesley Hospital, and the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge Precinct. In the Brisbane component, industry partner ARM Hub showcased how robotics, automation, AI, an d advanced manufacturing can support more sustainable healthcare delivery models. The second week in Dubai focused on collaborative solution development, with Siemens Healthineers co-leading workshops as programme co-designers, providing specialist expertise in healthcare technology and sustainability. The programme guided teams through hands-on prototyping and refinement, ensuring practical, scalable applications. Professor Cori Stewart, Founder and CEO of the ARM Hub at Queensland University of Technology, highlighted the importance of integrating science into hospitals, using robotics and AI to improve care. Participants included healthcare professionals working on sustainability approaches within academic health systems and students from four UAE universities-Rochester Institute of Technology Dubai, Dubai Institute of Design and Innovation, American University of Sharjah, and Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences-participating in the Design4Change Bootcamp. Dr. Yacine Hadjiat, Director of the Centre for Innovation and Technology at Dubai Health, emphasized the value of international collaboration in creating sustainably focused solutions that enhance care quality. Eng. Razan Daoud from Siemens Healthineers remarked on the power of co-creation among academic health systems, universities, and industry.
