Dubai Humanitarian Hosts Advanced Masterclass on Importation and Customs for Humanitarian Efforts

Dubai: Dubai Humanitarian, as part of the IMPACCT Working Group (Importation and Customs Clearance Together), alongside Dubai Customs, HELP Logistics, UNCTAD, and DP-DHL, hosted an Advanced Masterclass on Importation and Customs for Humanitarian Response at its Knowledge and Development Centre (KDC).

According to Emirates News Agency, the event brought together over 25 professionals from 12 leading humanitarian organizations across 13 countries. The three-day masterclass aimed to enhance expertise throughout the importation lifecycle, focusing on peer learning and practical application. Key topics included compliance and customs requirements, mitigation of operational challenges, and the legal responsibilities of shippers and consignees.

Giuseppe Saba, CEO and Board Member of Dubai Humanitarian, emphasized the organization's role in the IMPACCT Group and its commitment to facilitating efficient humanitarian assistance. He highlighted that the collaboration allows for the exchange of best practices, aligning with their mission to build a Global Safety Net. Dubai Humanitarian, through its Knowledge and Development Center, continues to be a global leader in capacity-building and alliances among key actors like National Customs.

Virginie Bohl, Coordinator of IMPACCT Group, noted that importation and customs processes are critical components of humanitarian logistics, often impacting the speed and efficiency of aid delivery. The masterclass aimed to promote collaboration among humanitarian professionals, customs authorities, and local actors, equipping participants with the tools and insights needed to address current challenges.

The program included case studies, scenario analyses, and a field visit to Dubai Customs. This hands-on experience showcased Dubai's collaborative approach and commitment to supporting the international humanitarian community. Participants also examined the role of innovative digital tools, such as the Humanitarian Logistics Databank and ASYREC, in enhancing transparency and coordination in global humanitarian operations.

The Advanced Masterclass on Importation and Customs for Humanitarian Response represents a significant step in Dubai Humanitarian's ongoing efforts to empower professionals, improve operational efficiency, and advance global humanitarian impact.
