Dubai Police Launches Smart System to Enhance Forensic Toxicology Efficiency

Dubai:Dubai Police has unveiled a groundbreaking digital platform designed to significantly accelerate the processing time for forensic toxicology results. The innovative system reduces the time required from approximately 60 minutes to less than one minute, marking a substantial improvement in forensic laboratory operations.

According to Emirates News Agency, the new platform, known as the Toxicology Analysis System, was developed by a team of four Emirati experts from the General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology. It automates the calculation and initial interpretation support processes, integrating laboratory data, calculations, scientific references, and preliminary comparisons into one cohesive system. This advancement not only reduces manual work but also enhances consistency, accuracy, and operational efficiency.

The development and implementation of the platform were led by Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Expert Rashid Humaid Al Rumaithi, with the assistance of Captain Engineer Expert Mohammad Abdul Qader Al Shamsi, and forensic toxicology experts Marwa Aqeel Al Janahi and Fatima Ali Al Suwaidi. The project aligns with Dubai Police's commitment to innovation and advanced digital solutions, aiming to improve forensic laboratory readiness and service quality while expediting case processing without compromising accuracy and reliability.

Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Rashid Humaid Al Rumaithi highlighted that the platform was created to tackle the technical and operational challenges of traditional forensic toxicology procedures. Previously, specialists faced time-consuming, manual processes involving data transfer, calculations, and verification. The integrated digital process now transforms these procedures, allowing for more efficient and accurate outcomes.

Captain Engineer Expert Mohammad Abdul Qader Al Shamsi explained that the platform not only automates calculations but also redesigns the workflow around a consistent institutional methodology. This innovation allows experts to focus on critical tasks such as analysis and interpretation, enhancing their ability to deliver final technical opinions efficiently.

Forensic expert Fatima Al Suwaidi remarked on the operational improvements brought by the system, noting the reduction in data processing steps, calculation procedures, and output preparation time. These enhancements enable experts to maintain accuracy while reducing repetitive tasks.

Marwa Al Janahi, another forensic toxicology expert, described the platform as a significant advancement in applying smart technologies to forensic work. The system's ability to standardize procedures and improve output reliability allows experts to dedicate more time to complex scientific analyses.

Looking to the future, Dubai Police plans to enhance the platform's capabilities by integrating it with laboratory instruments to reduce manual data entry. Future developments will also focus on building updated scientific databases, developing performance indicators, and exploring artificial intelligence applications to further support forensic operations.
