Dubai South and Phoenix Aviation Partner for New Airside Facility at MBRAH

Dubai:Dubai South, known as the largest urban master development focusing on aviation, logistics, and real estate, has entered into an agreement with Phoenix Aviation to establish a new airside plot at the Mohammed bin Rashid Aerospace Hub (MBRAH).

According to Wam, the new development aims to create a center of excellence for wide-body aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), cabin modifications, completions, and cargo conversion. This initiative is in response to the increasing demand for specialized aviation services.

The signing ceremony took place at MRO Europe with Nabil Alkindi, Group CEO of Dubai South, and Julian Ehrhard, President and CEO of Phoenix Aviation, along with other senior officials from both organizations. The project is set to be completed by the first quarter of 2029, featuring a 35,000-square-metre aircraft hangar, an 18,000-square-metre delivery center, 15,000 square metres of workshops and storage areas, and 3,000 square metres of office space.

The hangar will have the capacity to accommodate three wide-body aircraft, including models like the Boeing 777X and Airbus A350. This expansion will increase Phoenix Aviation's hangar count at MBRAH to two, complementing its existing A380-compatible MRO hangar, and will enhance Dubai South's aviation ecosystem by offering more capacity and services to airlines across various regions.

Nabil Alkindi emphasized that the agreement supports the objective of developing an integrated aviation ecosystem that attracts international investment and strengthens Dubai's aerospace industry role. Gilles Negre, Founder and Chairman of Phoenix Aviation, highlighted that the expansion is designed to meet the growing demand for wide-body aircraft services and to consolidate complementary capabilities at one location, focusing on quality, operational efficiency, and reduced aircraft ground time.
