Dubai to Host Global Quantum X in May 2027

Dubai: Global Quantum X (GQX), which brings together the quantum technology and cybersecurity sectors, will take place from 4th to 6th May 2027 at Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai, in strategic partnership with the UAE Cyber Security Council. The announcement was made on the sidelines of GISEC Global.

According to Emirates News Agency, GQX is organized by GITEX and will gather governments, quantum technology leaders, national cybersecurity authorities, research institutions, enterprise adopters, and investors. The event aims to explore quantum technology applications and related security frameworks.

McKinsey's Quantum Technology Monitor 2026 reports that one-third of global enterprises now allocate more than US$10 million annually to quantum initiatives. Quantum technologies could unlock $2.7 trillion in global economic value over the next decade.

The focus of the event will include quantum computing, quantum-secured communications, and next-generation sensing. It will also address post-quantum security, cryptographic transition, critical infrastructure protection, and national quantum readiness.

Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cyber Security Council, emphasized that the transition to the post-quantum era represents a significant shift for the sector, necessitating strong international cooperation. He noted that launching Global Quantum X will bring quantum-safe migration, sovereign cryptographic capability, and national readiness testing to a global platform, aiding governments and enterprises in bridging the gap between current defenses and future threats.

Trixie LohMirmand, Executive Vice President of inD, organizer of GISEC Global and GQX, stated that quantum computing has evolved from a scientific promise to a commercial strategy, with development accelerating faster than anticipated by many enterprises. She highlighted that the computing power expected to drive advances in fields such as medicine, manufacturing, and finance could also put existing encryption at risk. Consequently, closer integration between quantum technology and cybersecurity is becoming increasingly essential.
