Abu dhabi: The 12th World Green Economy Summit (WGES) is set to take place on October 21-22 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, centered around the theme "From Success to Scale: Showcasing the Green Economy." This event is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and is organized by the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO), the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA).

According to Emirates News Agency, the summit will gather decision-makers, business leaders, investors, and experts in resilience and infrastructure, alongside key figures from government, the private sector, and academia. It aims to present practical, scalable solutions while focusing on effective strategies to expedite the shift towards a low-carbon economy, reinforcing the linkage between economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, MD and CEO of DEWA, and Chairman of WGEO, stated that the World Green Economy Summit has solidified its role as a premier global platform that promotes international dialogue and unifies efforts to combat climate change and hasten the transition to a sustainable green economy. He emphasized that since its inception, the summit has been aligned with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid's vision to position Dubai as a global hub for future-focused solutions and to foster quality partnerships that drive climate action and enhance sustainable development globally.

This year's summit will spotlight a crucial phase in the global shift to a green economy. The green transition is now a current reality, propelled by proven technologies and innovative business models that provide scalable returns. WGES 2026 will aim to accelerate the adoption of climate solutions and scale successful models to support economic growth and enhance resilience across sectors.

The summit stresses the importance of moving beyond showcasing success stories to expanding and scaling them, and speeding up their implementation on the ground. WGES 2026 will focus on four main thematic pillars: energy technology and infrastructure, business strategy and transition, water and food security, and finance. It will also examine three cross-cutting themes, including artificial intelligence as a powerful enabler for advancing climate projects.

The themes further address governance as a crucial link between ambition and delivery, alongside system enablers such as supply chains and the circular economy. These themes embody the summit's extensive agenda and its response to swift global changes. The summit will demonstrate how the green transition is already in progress, supporting the adoption of innovative solutions across clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, green finance, water, and food security. These endeavors contribute to global and regional climate and development goals, reinforcing the UAE and Dubai's leadership in climate action and providing practical models that can be implemented at scale.
