Dubai’s International Visitor Numbers Surge with 9.88 Million Arrivals in H1 2025

Dubai: Dubai's international appeal continues to grow as the city welcomed 9.88 million international overnight visitors from January to June 2025, marking a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth is attributed to the city's evolving destination offerings driven by impactful public-private partnerships and a robust global marketing strategy, according to data published by the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, highlighted the city's record-breaking international visitation as a reflection of its strategic vision to become a major global business and tourism hub. He emphasized that Dubai's growth as a focal point for trade, investment, talent, and opportunity is supported by its ability to create compelling experiences that meet the needs of visitors. Dubai's exceptional infrastructure and unique attractions have fortified its status as a top destination.

The DET data revealed that the GCC and MENA markets contributed significantly to visitor numbers, with a combined 26% share. Western Europe emerged as the largest source market, accounting for 22% of visitors, followed by CIS and Eastern Europe, South Asia, and other regions. Dubai's accommodation portfolio continued to expand, with new hotels opening in various locations, enhancing the city's appeal to international tourists.

Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of DET, noted Dubai's strong tourism performance amid global challenges. He attributed this success to the city's visionary leadership and strategic economic agenda, emphasizing the importance of enhancing visitor experiences through technology and investing in high-growth segments. Dubai aims to position itself as a world-class center of commerce, innovation, and cultural connection.

The Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), part of DET, launched several global marketing campaigns in H1 2025, featuring celebrities like Millie Bobby Brown and Virat Kohli, to attract new international audiences. Strategic partnerships with hospitality giants further elevated the visitor experience. Dubai also received global accolades, including recognition as a Certified Autism Destination and top rankings in international tourism awards.

Dubai's hotel sector achieved impressive results, with high occupancy rates and increased revenue. Gastronomy remains a key attraction, with the MICHELIN Guide featuring Dubai's diverse culinary scene. The city celebrated its first three-starred restaurants and received recognition on The World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
